Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has backed France national team colleague KylianMbappe to sign for the Spanish La Liga giants in the future after they failed to lure him away from French Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) before the latest transfer window ended last month.

Karim Benzema stated that Mbappe will still play for Real Madrid while he was international duty with world champions France earlier this month. Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema spoke to reporters as monitored by the International Business Times (IBT) shortly after the disappointing 1-1 draw between hosts France and Bosnia & Herzegovina. France had to come from a goal down to rescue a point in the qualifying match for next year’s World Cup tournament. The French team played a big part of the game with ten men after Sevilla defender Jules Kounde was sent off for two yellow cards.

Real Madrid made Mbappe their top transfer target but they were unable to sign him despite the willingness to pay up to €220m for him. PSG were reluctant to let Mbappe leave the Parc des Princes despite the player having less than a year on his contract with the club. Mbappe could walk out on PSG as a free agent next summer if he does not sign a new deal.

Mbappe has maintained his good form in front of goal for PSG despite the failure to land a lucrative transfer to Real Madrid. The French World Cup winner scored his fourth goal in three league games with the strike in the convincing win over Clermont Foot. He scored the third goal for PSG in the 4-0 home win over the newly promoted team. Clermont Foot had a four-match unbeaten run at the start of their debut season in the league and that run came to an end thanks to PSG. Apart from Mbappe, Senegalese midfielder IdrissaGueye and Spanish player Ander Herrera (2) also scored during the French Ligue 1 clash with Clermont Foot.
